Molly & Tyler’s May 2016 Wedding at Teitiare Estates was so beautiful and fun to design. Molly, a Designer herself, had great ideas and a well-edited Pinterest board with a fun mix of modern geometric elements and earthy greens. Molly did all the typeface and print design herself, which we carried through to the various signage elements for the ceremony and reception. They wanted a great bash for their friends and family, complete with a top shelf Tequila, Scotch, and Cuban cigar tasting bar from Don Pedro’s, who also provided the main bar and the gourmet dinner al fresco beneath the palms, the luscious cupcake table for dessert. Mireya of Flor Mimo worked her usual magic with Molly’s vision and palette, tying everything together with lush and graphic greenery and clean crystal vases. Dylan Howell of Portland-based Dylan and Sara Photography captured the day’s events and lovely details, and Irene Guerediaga of Make-up Vallarta beautifully styled Molly’s hair and makeup. Enjoy the photos!
I’m excited to finally be sharing this beautiful and festive wedding from a few years back. When I look at these photos I can’t help but think “FUN!” – it’s seriously RADIATING from the photos – I think Melissa had the most fun of any Bride based on her gorgeous, ecstatic, ear-to-ear smile. I think these beautiful images from Sheila Garvey Photography, and the smiles on the faces, speak for themselves. Cheers to Melissa & Adam who will be celebrating 3 years of marriage next month! xo, SDW
Seriously – those shoes, right? Showstoppers. It’s taken me a while to get this one up on the blog, but I think it’s worth the wait. Casa de los Delfines was the perfect canvas of a venue for Ed & Jessica’s intimate wedding with an elegant hacienda design concept. Mariachis set the mood under oversized tin stars which twinkled over the dance floor later in the evening. Naef Cuisine catered the reception dinner & bar and crafted the Papel-Picado design wedding cake. Flor Mimo set the tablescapes with endless amounts of bottles for an abundant and intimate feel. We set up a long feasting table (my favorite setup for this venue) and had custom parota wood runners made to bring in a natural element to the tables. Jessica ordered vintage Mexican postcards on etsy for their guests to write well wishes, which were then dropped into the vintage mail box to be posted from Sayulita back to their home in Chicago. Love and details expertly captured by Puerto Vallarta’s own Paulina Ulloa Photography.
Blair & Jason got married 1 year to the date of their engagement, which also happened in Sayulita. They are a firefighter (he) and Massage Therapist (she) from Port Ludlow, WA, who brought 40 of their close friends and family to celebrate their union in the beautiful and picturesque Casa Vela. Their guests all packed down school supplies to donate to the local elementary schools at the request of Jason & Blair – such a great help to our local students!! Their ceremony was on the north end beach followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing at Casa Vela. Latcho y Andrea – The Blond Gypsies – set the mood for cocktails and dinner, with DJ Roberto Veckman rocking the dance floor later on. Plush Catering & Events kept everyone happy with amazing food and drink, Flor Mimo provided the beautiful flowers, and Marjie of Funky Diva styled the beautiful Bride. All of the fabulous details are loving captured by the stellar Joann Arruda, who we were fortunate enough to work with 3 times this year. For more about Blair & Jason’s lovely wedding, check out their feature in El Sayulero!

Vanessa & Bryan’s Wedding was at the St. Regis Punta Mita – an incomparable location for sure (“un lugar precioso,” como decimos en Mexico…). They are from the Bay Area and Vanessa’s family is originally from a small town in Jalisco, so this was a fabulous marriage of culture and style. The stellar Mariachi band has a long history playing for Vanessa’s family and traveled 5+ hours just to play for the wedding. They were aMAZing. Andrew Weeks‘ captured the day so beautifully – what an eye! DJ Paladub kept the dance floor packed all night long. Flowers by Flora Amor, Reception & Welcome Party catering by St. Regis Punta Mita, Bridal Party Styling by Marjie Cheales of Funky Diva; rentals by MAC Event. Such a beautiful and fun Wedding!
Congrats Vanessa + Bryan!
Happy First Anniversary to Patti & Chris! This super sweet couple from Chicago had a beautiful and intimate wedding at Casa Ilusion on Sayulita’s north end beach. I love looking back at these photos – they are dripping with love and affection between the happy couple. Adding to the glow of the lovely Bride, and the depth of those looks between new husband and wife, is the fact that they were expecting their first child at the time of the wedding. I can just feel it in these photos, the excitement and love around a new family forming, knowing that their baby would be born in August – and with their baby in their arms today, they have even more to celebrate this anniversary.
The wedding was a family affair, with Patti’s Uncle Bud acting as the wedding Officiate, and friends of the family providing the pre-ceremony piano and song, as well as the beautiful calligraphy on the guest book and the hand-lettered apple place cards. Patti & Chris wanted a delicious and authentic Mexican dinner from their favorite Sayulita restaurant, Sayulita Café. Miguel and his team served up their signature chiles rellenos along with chicken mole, cactus salad, and yummy guacamole. Tamale Diva Adriana Basail prepared mini-versions of her scrumptious gourmet mayan pork and spinach pine nut tamales for cocktail hour canapés. Dessert was assorted cakes from Anna, the Sayulita “Cake Lady.” The flowers were beautifully done by Mireya of Flor Mimo, with hair & makeup by Karina of Raphaella Salon.
Patti wanted to host a special luncheon for her girlfriends and Bridesmaids the day before the wedding, so we organized a spa party where guests each chose three services from stations offering massage, facials, and mani-pedis. Sayulita Sushi catered the luncheon with a delicious array of sushi, and ladies sipped on sparkling wine while getting pampered and checking out the ocean view.
Elizabeth Lloyd Photography did an amazing job capturing the beauty of the wedding and the pure love flowing between Patti & Chris and their baby on the way.
When Jessica first contacted me about planning her wedding to Chad, she introduced them as a couple that had fallen in love with Sayulita years ago, and went on to describe their ideal as follows:
We love the idea of having a really earthy wedding on Playa Carricitos at sunset and then heading to a fabulous party somewhere.
Carricitos is a secluded beach south of the main beach and Playa los Muertos, accessed only by private property or jungle trails (on foot). Fortunately, I had the perfect venue for them – where they could have their earthy ceremony and their fabulous party in one beautiful location. We had thrown a small rehearsal dinner at this private home years ago and the owners approached us about offering it up as a wedding venue to the right clients. I hadn’t found the right clients until Jessica & Chad found us, and from there, everything just flowed.
An easy-going, outdoorsy couple from Boise, Idaho, Jessica & Chad’s wedding was beautiful and richly textured without being fussy or stuffy. Their fun, laid-back personalities came through in every detail and moment of the wedding events, and they were super easy and fun to work with. Jessica brought down the gorgeous tapestries that served as the table linens, and the intimate group of 40 guests were treated to Mexican shot glass favors, great bottles of sipping tequila on each table, Mexican wedding cookie takeaways, and fresh made churros and cinnamon hot chocolate for dessert. Suburbans shuttled guests safely to and from Sayulita to the private hideaway in the jungle, where they danced the night away on a sandy dancefloor on the beach.
Congratulations, Jessica & Chad!
