Molly & Tyler’s May 2016 Wedding at Teitiare Estates was so beautiful and fun to design. Molly, a Designer herself, had great ideas and a well-edited Pinterest board with a fun mix of modern geometric elements and earthy greens. Molly did all the typeface and print design herself, which we carried through to the various signage elements for the ceremony and reception. They wanted a great bash for their friends and family, complete with a top shelf Tequila, Scotch, and Cuban cigar tasting bar from Don Pedro’s, who also provided the main bar and the gourmet dinner al fresco beneath the palms, the luscious cupcake table for dessert. Mireya of Flor Mimo worked her usual magic with Molly’s vision and palette, tying everything together with lush and graphic greenery and clean crystal vases. Dylan Howell of Portland-based Dylan and Sara Photography captured the day’s events and lovely details, and Irene Guerediaga of Make-up Vallarta beautifully styled Molly’s hair and makeup. Enjoy the photos!
Wishing a very Happy 4th Anniversary to Meagan & Scott from the SF Bay Area! They had a beautiful wedding – love those vibrant pops of RED! – at the spectacular St. Regis. The Rehearsal Dinner was especially fun to design. Meagan wanted a vintage Mexico travel theme and brought down fabulous posters. We did the tables up super bright with maracas and hand-painted piggy banks from Esto Es Mexico in Sayulita, one of my favorite spots for Mexican pop-art. Their light-up dance floor was epic and really got the crowd moving. The weekend’s events were captured flawlessly by the talented Andrew Weeks Photography. Flowers by Flor Mimo, Bridal Party Styling by Remede Spa at the St. Regis, and Cocktail Hour Tunes by Los Frixoleros (how I miss them!). Enjoy!
I’m excited to finally be sharing this beautiful and festive wedding from a few years back. When I look at these photos I can’t help but think “FUN!” – it’s seriously RADIATING from the photos – I think Melissa had the most fun of any Bride based on her gorgeous, ecstatic, ear-to-ear smile. I think these beautiful images from Sheila Garvey Photography, and the smiles on the faces, speak for themselves. Cheers to Melissa & Adam who will be celebrating 3 years of marriage next month! xo, SDW
Elizabeth and Matt were absolutely the sweetest. They were actually – like for reals – high school sweethearts. Like, pictures-of-them-at-their-senior-prom-on-the-photo-wall SweetHearts. And so truly madly in love. So cool. Their celebration was held at Sayulita’s Brisa Mar Palapa on a perfect sunny November day. Their intimate group of 55 was seated at a massive rustic wood feasting table set with clusters of beautiful but un-fussy flowers designed by Flor Mimo to evoke the feel of a farm table with blooms gathered from the backyard garden. Guests were greeted with aguas frescas, cool towels, and vintage family photos as they entered the Palapa. Donna Day Photography captured the love all day and the fun all night in the festive photo booth. Bridal Styling by Marjie Cheales of Funky Diva Collective. DJ Paladub filled the night with fresh beats to pack the dance floor, Don Pedro’s filled happy mouths and bellies with always-excellent food and drink to satisfy even the most discerning Bay Area Foodie palates. Hand-rolled cigars, fresh-made churros, and hot-off-the-spit tacos al pastor rounded out the night, along with a surprise fireworks show from a neighboring wedding that our Bride, Groom and Guests all got to enjoy. Many Congrats and Mucho Amor to Liz + Matt!!
This was my fourth year helping to organize and produce the Annual Scholarship Drive for Costa Verde International School, where my son Maximo Lobo attends first grade. Our theme was “Mexi-Gras” as our date coincided with Mardi Gras (finally!). This is always such an off-the-charts fun event, the first big fundraiser of the season for our little village, a time to bring everyone together in celebration of an amazing cause and to support the school that has really changed the makeup of our community from a town of retirees and young singles to a viable place to live and raise a family. I love being a part of this event as it’s near and dear to my heart, but also because I get to collaborate with an amazing group of (mostly usually) women to pull it off, and we have a lot of fun with the theme, throwing a kick-ass party on the beach for our town and our school. And it’s fun to do something a little wilder than the average wedding every now and then… I mean, those colors! I love the purple and gold! Don Pedro’s (our fave wedding partners and the most awesome supporters of every good cause in Sayulita!) GENEROUSLY provides the location, food, bar, and staff to make it all happen (along with yummy eats from Organic Select, Teitiare Estate, and desserts and a custom designed cake from Naef Cuisine), and my rentals providers Eventos Elegantes and Trendy kicked down some deep discounts on the furniture and linens to make it all come to life. Kike Salazar of Dos Veinte Designs created our stellar poster and then applied his design to the larger-than-life dance floor, as well as painting the fabulous street signs above. My amazing, dynamic and super-sexy Man Gabbi Villarrubia reprised his role as MC for the fourth year, rocking the mic and keeping the event running smooth, and our good friend Yogi Kirst stepped up as Auctioneer. Nick Challed (aka “DJ Nico”, also a CVIS parent) set the mood with sweet New Orleans Jazz followed by pumping dance beats that kept the crowd shaking into the night. Spencer Harris & Cherry Bombs clicked the night away to bring you these fab snaps of the fun. To top it all off we raised a record-breaking amount of funds this year including 5 “adopt-a-scholar” pledges for full year scholarships. Ha-ZA!
Seriously – those shoes, right? Showstoppers. It’s taken me a while to get this one up on the blog, but I think it’s worth the wait. Casa de los Delfines was the perfect canvas of a venue for Ed & Jessica’s intimate wedding with an elegant hacienda design concept. Mariachis set the mood under oversized tin stars which twinkled over the dance floor later in the evening. Naef Cuisine catered the reception dinner & bar and crafted the Papel-Picado design wedding cake. Flor Mimo set the tablescapes with endless amounts of bottles for an abundant and intimate feel. We set up a long feasting table (my favorite setup for this venue) and had custom parota wood runners made to bring in a natural element to the tables. Jessica ordered vintage Mexican postcards on etsy for their guests to write well wishes, which were then dropped into the vintage mail box to be posted from Sayulita back to their home in Chicago. Love and details expertly captured by Puerto Vallarta’s own Paulina Ulloa Photography.
Blair & Jason got married 1 year to the date of their engagement, which also happened in Sayulita. They are a firefighter (he) and Massage Therapist (she) from Port Ludlow, WA, who brought 40 of their close friends and family to celebrate their union in the beautiful and picturesque Casa Vela. Their guests all packed down school supplies to donate to the local elementary schools at the request of Jason & Blair – such a great help to our local students!! Their ceremony was on the north end beach followed by cocktails, dinner and dancing at Casa Vela. Latcho y Andrea – The Blond Gypsies – set the mood for cocktails and dinner, with DJ Roberto Veckman rocking the dance floor later on. Plush Catering & Events kept everyone happy with amazing food and drink, Flor Mimo provided the beautiful flowers, and Marjie of Funky Diva styled the beautiful Bride. All of the fabulous details are loving captured by the stellar Joann Arruda, who we were fortunate enough to work with 3 times this year. For more about Blair & Jason’s lovely wedding, check out their feature in El Sayulero!
